Natasja Alers (1987) grew up in The Hague, Holland. In 2012 she graduated from the Ceramics department at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam. Currently she is working as an autonomous artist, dj, art and co-director of Grauzone festival and promoter of concerts in The Netherlands.

Tension, vulnerability, and paradoxical feelings are central themes in all her autonomous work. She combines multiple disciplines such as: ceramics, installations, oil painting and collages.

Natasja Alers is a visual artist based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She studied ceramics at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam and fine arts at the Weissensee KunstHochschule in Berlin, Germany. Her practice focuses on the inner world of the human body resulting in sculptural hybrid that reveal tension, vulnerability, and paradoxical feelings. Alers plays with the viewer’s expectations. her work attracts visually, drawing you nearer, but it also gets under your skin. It is an exploration of contradictory moods of sensuality and unsettling feelings, a quest for the raw and ambiguous spaces in both body and psyche. By pushing and stretching the sculptured body from within, it raises tension and vulnerability in the material. The visceral glazes and the specific combination of colours refer to redefining the skin of the sculpture.
