Natasja Alers (1987) grew up in The Hague, Holland. In 2012 she graduated from the Ceramics department at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam. Currently she is working as an autonomous artist, dj, art director, initiator of Grauzone and promoter of concerts in The Netherlands.

Tension, vulnerability, and paradoxical feelings are central themes in all her autonomous work. She combines multiple disciplines such as: ceramics, installations, oil painting and collages.

In her ceramical work, Alers adds layers to to the sculptured body which leads to imaginative figures, revealing an inner world of past and present emotions. By constructing an architectural space wherein the sculptures are placed, an atmospheric surrounding is created. Herein the separate works are combined into one big installation.

In her collages she is inspired by vintage magazines/images, graphical and architectural shapes. By reflecting upon the relationship and tension between these images she aims to create a new surreal scenery.
